The 2009 LBJ Distinguished Lecture will air on C-SPAN 3 10 a.m. Sunday, June 7 on the C-SPAN 3 cable network.
The event was held April 14 on the Texas State University-San Marcos campus and featured President Lyndon Johnson’s daughters Lynda Johnson Robb and Luci Baines Johnson and was moderated by former LBJ speechwriter Harry Middleton, founding director of the LBJ Library and Museum.
The LBJ Distinguished Lecture was the culminating event of a year of celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Johnson, a 1930 graduate of the university. The academic year’s seminars, debates, speakers, performing arts and exhibitions have focused on the Common Experience theme, “Civic Responsibility and the Legacy of LBJ.” The university joined several other entities, including the presidential library and the LBJ state and national parks, in celebration of the Johnson centennial.
C-SPAN 3 is carried in the central Texas area by Time-Warner. The program will be archived online at www.c-span.org after it airs.
