Kailey Slone named Outstanding Senior Woman

Kailey Slone of Cuero has been named the recipient of the 2009 Sallie Beretta Outstanding Senior Woman Award at Texas State University-San Marcos.
 
Slone received her degree in communication studies and a minor in recreational administration and honors studies at Texas State commencement ceremonies May 16.

Slone was named Greek Woman of the Year at Texas State in 2008 and served as president of Chi Omega in 2008. She served as a member of the Student Foundation in 2007-09 and also the Order of Omega in 2007-09. An Honors Thesis Student, she was a Texas Student Leadership Forum attendee, a 2008 Homecoming Gallardian and a dean’s list student from the fall of 2005 through the fall of 2008 and earned recognition from the Golden Key Honor Society. Slone also served as Midnight Madness executive director for Best Buddies Organization of Texas and Crosstalk, where she organized a homeless ministry.
 
The Beretta Award is named for Sallie Beretta, who served on the University’s Board of Regents from 1933 to 1951. The award has been given by the university since 1963 to an outstanding senior woman based on leadership, scholarship, character, potential and loyalty.
