The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University-San Marcos, in conjunction with the Institute of Children's Theatre, will host a summer theatre camp for children June 15-26

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for children ages 7-12.

“In recent years I have had many requests from parents for a theater camp for grade school kids,” said John Fleming, chair of the department of theatre and dance.  “And so I was very pleased when Tracy Goodwin, one of our creative drama teachers, approached me about partnering on such a summer camp.”

The students will participate in a mix of theatre games, creative drama activities and play rehearsal. The culminating will be a student performance of the award-winning play Foxtales.

“Foxtales is a great piece for kids,” said camp director Tracy Goodwin. “In it students do some singing, some dancing, and some acting. It is a very fun play to perform and to see.”

While providing a structured outlet for their creative energy, the camp offers grade school students a great opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills and have a good time performing a play.

Cost to participate in the two-week camp is $250. For more information, contact Tracy Goodwin at (512) 665-0891 or tg21@txstate.edu.
