The American Marketing Association chapter at Texas State University-San Marcos was recently honored as a “Distinguished Chapter” during the 31st AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, La.

More than 1,300 attendees participated in the conference, designed to provide the ultimate marketing experience for students. Programming included professional guest speakers, a career fair and networking opportunities.

Texas State’s “Distinguished Chapter” recognition—which places the AMA chapter among the top eight chapters internationally—was based on the submitted chapter plan and annual report. The reports are judged on professional development, communications, fundraising and community service. The Texas State AMA also received 2nd place in the recruitment video competition and received honorable mention in the website competition, viewable at www.business.txstate.edu/ama.

Texas State AMA President Whitney Senters participated in a presidential panel discussion that offered recommendations and suggestions to leading a successful AMA chapter. The Texas State chapter, represented by VP of Fundraising Andrew Duffy and VP of Finance Scriven Hoef, gave a presentation on insights and tips to a sustainable fundraising program.  More than 150 AMA students and advisors attended each of the presentations.

The American Marketing Association is one of the largest professional associations for marketers and has more than 40,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing. There are more than 300 student AMA chapters from schools in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
