Internationally acclaimed composer to attend series of events

Award-winning composer Steven Bryant will visit the Texas State University-San Marcos campus Feb. 16-20 for classes, rehearsals and a concert as a part of the Department of Bands Visiting Artist Series.
The concert will be held Friday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in Evans Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
Bryant is an active conductor and composer for wind ensemble, orchestra, electronic and electro-acoustic creations, chamber music and music for the Web. Highlighting his visit will be a concert featuring his works MetaMarch, Dusk, Suite Dreams and Radiant Joy. The pieces Radiant Joy and Suite Dreams are back to back winners of the NBA/William D. Revelli Composition Contest, earning the award in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Bryant is only the second composer to win the contest in consecutive years.
Bryant's music has been performed by ensembles worldwide including North America, Europe and East Asia. His acclaimed first orchestral composition, Loose Id for Orchestra was premiered by the Juilliard Symphony and will be featured on an upcoming release by the Bowling Green Philharmonia.
