Texas State University-San Marcos will celebrate the birthday of late western swing legend Bob Wills with a performance by Lone Star Swing in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom on March 6 at 7 p.m.
The event is part of the Jerry and Cathy Supple Folk Music Series and the University Encore Performing Arts Series which is organized by the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The event is free and open to the public.
Specializing in western swing, Austin-based Lone Star Swing will perform with acclaimed guest musicians including Rick McRae and Terry Hale, who are regular members of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band.
A number of Bob Wills’ original Texas Playboys, including Johnny Gimble, Herb Remington, Louise Rowe and Johnny Cuviello, will also join the evening’s line up.
