The Texas State University-San Marcos Chorale will have the honor of performing at the annual Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Friday, Feb 13 in San Antonio.
The group auditioned for the chance to sing at this year’s conference last spring, according to the director, Joey Martin. Martin is a member of the music department faculty at Texas State.
“We’ll be performing diverse works by Monteverdi, Martin, Brahms, Fauré, South African composer Peter van Dijk, and Irish composer Tarik O’Regan,” said Martin.
The current choir is made up of 30 students who must audition for a spot. They do not have to be studying music in order to be a member.
The Texas State Chorale has traveled around the world, singing for all types of audiences. They will travel to South Africa in 2010 with other guest musicians as part of their educational outreach efforts.
