Texas State Symphony Orchestra concert scheduled

The Texas State Symphony Orchestra will present a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Evans Auditorium on the campus of Texas State University-San Marcos.

Admission to the event is $3 for students and $5 for the general public.
 
The program will include Academic Festive Overture by Brahms and Symphony Fantastique by Berlioz. Conductors are Howard Hudiburg and Amada Robison..

Hudiburg is director of orchestral activities and associate professor of music at Texas State. He conducts the symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra, along with teaching instrumental conducting and string education classes. He holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State.

Under his direction, the Symphony Orchestra has performed at the Texas Music Educators’ Association/American Teachers’ Association Clinic and Convention and has toured Europe, performing in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Scotland and England.

Hudiburg and the Texas State Chamber Orchestra have recently been invited to perform in the 2009 Celebration of Music in Italy and at the White House Christmas Open House on Dec. 6.

Robison is in her second year as a graduate student pursuing a master of music in instrumental conducting. She holds the position of graduate assistant for the Texas State Symphony Orchestra and for the instrumental methods classes. She completed her bachelor of music with all-level teaching certification at Texas State in 2005.
