The Texas State University bookstore will host its annual open house and gingerbread house contest Dec. 4 from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center on campus.
The gingerbread house contest is open to Texas State faculty, staff, students, departments, organizations and their children. The only rule is that all parts of the house must be edible. Winners will be chosen by popular vote and adult winners will receive a $75 gift card in each category. The children’s category winner will receive a $25 gift card. Entries must be at the bookstore by 10 a.m. on Dec. 4 and judging will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The open house will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and includes various activities such as story and photo time with Boko, the Texas State mascot, as well as a sugar cookie decorating station. Boko’s appearance will begin at 10:30 a.m. and all children under 10 will get a plush Boko for attending.
Attendees are also encouraged to participate in the bookstore’s clothing drive. Anyone who brings a clean, used t-shirt will receive $3 off any Texas State t-shirt.
