Volunteers will be honored for their work in relation to various Texas River Systems Institute programs Saturday, July 19 at Texas State University-San Marcos’ Aquarena Center.
Activities begin at 9 a.m. with guided tours and glass-bottomed boat rides. The recognition ceremony begins at noon with lunch following. Tours and additional activities will continue until 5 p.m.
Annually, thousands of volunteers offer their time and energy to protect water resources and associated habitat through various River Systems Institute programs, including Texas Stream Team water quality monitors and Aquarena Center science divers and education. Participants will meet other volunteers and be acknowledged for protecting Texas water resources.
Sponsors of this event include the River Systems Institute, Texas Stream Team, Aquarena Center, Texas State University-San Marcos, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-Region 6.
