Seese chairs session at 60th Annual NAFSA Conference in Washington

Robert Seese, director of the International Office at Texas State University-San Marcos, led and presented a session titled “Better Decisions in Suspending Travel Abroad: Creating an Institutional Policy” at the 60th annual NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference.

The conference was held from May 27-30 in Washington, D.C.

Seese presented with Ambassador Gregory W. Engle, senior advisor for international affairs at the University of Texas and Geraldine Auel, study abroad coordinator from Oklahoma State University. Issues such as what triggers a decision to suspend travel and who should make this decision were discussed in light of developing an institutional international travel suspension policy.

NAFSA is the leading association in the field of international education and exchange. The association serves international educators and their institutions and organizations by setting standards of good practice, providing training and professional development opportunities, providing networking opportunities, and advocating for international education. The conference hosted more than 9,000 delegates from 100-plus countries. The opening plenary address was given by Vincente Fox, president of Mexico from 2000 to 2006.
