Kodosky Foundation gift supports Mathworks Summer Math Camp

The Mathworks program at Texas State University-San Marcos has received a $20,000 gift from the Kodosky Foundation in support of Mathworks Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC).

The Kodosky donation will ensure that all students will be able to attend regardless of their financial background. This donation will provide 50 full scholarships for students to attend the program, with additional financial aid for all students with financial need.

The Mathworks JSMC is a two-week summer math program for approximately 200 students and teachers. The program has five levels of curriculum ranging from beginning algebra for 4th-5th graders, to advanced problem solving for 7th-8th graders. Teachers may also attend the program and learn how to begin their own program using the Mathworks model.

The Kodosky Foundation is also supporting the Mathworks Curriculum project that extends the summer math camp curriculum to a full school-year curriculum for students in grades 6-7, preparing all students for algebra and higher-level mathematics.  Jeff Kodosky is a co-founder of National Instruments and member of the Mathworks Advisory Board, which works to guide, support and enhance all of the Mathworks programs.
