‘Backyard Story’ takes audiences on an insect-sized adventure

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University-San Marcos presents the family-friendly play Backyard Story April 22-27.

Written and directed by Charles Pascoe, performances will be April 22-26 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance April 27 on the Main Stage of the Texas State Theatre Center on campus.

After 25 years with the Department of Theatre and Dance, Backyard Story will be Pascoe’s final production. To mark the occasion, Pascoe will discuss the creative process with the audience and field questions following the April 25 performance.

Playing off the obstacle-to-love plot tradition, Backyard Story presents a wildly humorous and magnified look at bug life in a typical backyard.  Backyard Story swept the major awards at the American College Theatre Festival in 1983, and in 1984 it represented the State of Texas at the International Children's Festival at Wolftrap Farm Park for the Performing Arts in Fairfax, Virginia.
