Veteran television actor and Texas State University-San Marcos alumnus G.W. Bailey will read Texas Rivers by John Graves, with photography by Wyman Meinzer, on Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theatre.

“The book features Meinzer’s best photography work combined with Graves’ unique writing style,” said Andrew Sansom, director of the River System Institute. “Its subject relates to the culture and natural history of Texas rivers.”

Meinzer will be present at the event to discuss and present the book’s photographs. In 1997 he was proclaimed Texas State Photographer. He is the published author of two books and the photographer for 19 books. His photos are also featured in popular print publications like Time, Newsweek and National Geographic.

Bailey has appeared in 30 films and has reoccurring roles in six television shows, including Lt. Provenza in the current television series The Closer, as well as appearances in the Police Academy movies as well as Sgt. Rizzo in M*A*S*H.

Sansom encourages people to attend this exclusive event that combines illustrious talent and a renowned author.

“This is a unique opportunity to see the marriage of Graves’ marvelous prose and Meinzer’s outstanding photographs,” he said. “Additionally, it will be read by a fine actor.”
