Texas State SIFE hosts “Interview Express”

The Texas State University-San Marcos Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team hosted more than 300 students Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the Minifie Academic Atrium in the McCoy College of Business. The purpose of the event was to focus on employers’ needs by providing a learning forum to improve students’ resumes, appearance, etiquette, demeanor and interviewing skills.
New SIFE students, SIFE officers and corporate executives all helped to make the event a positive experience for students who want to improve their workforce readiness. Executives participating were: Rianne Brashears, Target Executive Team Leader – Human Resources, San Marcos; Peter Gilfillan – Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Austin; Maggie Seay – Business Development, O’Connell Robertson, San Antonio; Dan Toomey, General Manager – Cintas Corporation, San Antonio; Glenn West, Senior Vice President Market Development – Guaranty Bank, Austin.
Gilfillan, Brashears and Seay are SIFE alumni who continue to generously give of their time and talents to help the team excel. Gilfillan was involved with SIFE in 2006 and headed the financial literacy blog program and worked on the Sam's Club consulting project. Seay was a member of the International Championship team in 2000, and Brashears was on the team who produced the financial literacy project “Dr. Debt,” which won first place in the nation in 2004. Toomey is a strong supporter of the SIFE team and sponsors the SIFE team polos. West is a founding member of the SIFE Advisory Board of Directors, having spent over ten years helping to raise funds for the group.
Students in Free Enterprise, (SIFE) is a not-for-profit organization supported by individuals, foundations, and corporations whose mission is to build collegiate SIFE Teams who teach free enterprise in order to better individuals, communities, and countries. SIFE's purpose is accomplished through the SIFE Team's outreach projects where students and faculty involve the community in the free enterprise system, providing the students with an opportunity to teach others what they have learned.
