Angela Ramirez, a senior biology major at Texas State University-San Marcos and member of the Hispanic Business Students Association, has been recognized as the National Representative of the Year for the Southern Region for her exemplary student leadership and commitment to her chapter and community.
The Raymondville native was recently recognized at the National Hispanic Business Association’s 18th Annual Leadership Conference in Chicago, Ill. The annual honor is determined by a competitive year-long process and a final selection is made by the National Board of Directors, and includes a $250 scholarship. This marks the second year a Texas State student leader has received the honor. In addition, the Texas State BSA received an honorable mention for its presentation during the National Spirit Competition.
“Texas State continues to be one of the top chapters who exemplify true leadership and dedication,” said NHBA Executive Director David Pena.
More that 670 Hispanic students from over 52 universities across the nation attended the three-day leadership conference. This year’s event was held at the Crowne Plaza O’Hare and was hosted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Latino Association for Business Students.
