Texas State hosts 10th Annual Teachers Conference

The 10th Annual Texas State University-San Marcos Teachers Conference will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 29 in the LBJ Student Center on campus.
The event, sponsored by the Central Texas Writing Project and the Texas Association for the Improvement of Reading will focus on sharing and learning new ways to integrate technology into literacy instruction.
Keynote speakers include Donald H. Graves, bestselling author of Writing: Teachers & Children at Work and A Fresh Look at Writing; Joe Lambert, founding director of the Center for Digital Storytelling; David Rice, winner of the American Library Association’s “Best Books for Young Readers” award and author of Give the Pig a Chance and Crazy Loco and Other Stories.
The conference will also include sessions on online classroom management with Moodle; the writing process through wikis; reader response and literary discussion on blogs; responsively using rubrics in writing assessments; digital storytelling and methods of literacy integration; and social action through multimedia and technology.
