Service scheduled for Computer Science professor

A memorial service for Jeffrey A. Slomka, assistant professor of computer science at
Slomka passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the age of 56.
He joined the
Hector Flores, Dean of the College of Science at Texas State, said, “This is a very sad day for Computer Science and the College of Science.”
Texas State Computer Science Department Chair Hongchi Shi described Slomka as “a dedicated professor who cared about his students and the future of the department.”
In addition to his teaching duties, Slomka was a teacher education adviser and an undergraduate student adviser for the department.
He was one of the principal investigators for the National Science Foundation-funded La Costa grant, a three-year informal IT education program that addressed the technical, social and economic needs of students in five
