Education honor society earns Chapter of Excellence award

The ACE award, presented by the international honor society in education Kappa Delta Pi, recognizes Texas State’s Eta Zeta chapter for successfully completing its rigorous two-year portfolio. 

Kappa Delta Pi chapter resource consultant Mindy Fairchild said to win the award, chapters must complete six program objectives:  Programming, recognition, ideals, practices, professional and leadership development and fellowship. 

Texas State’s Kappa Delta Pi is one of 22 out of 567 chapters to receive the award.

Fairchild said the prestigious award is an excellent addition to an educator’s resume. 

“We’re one of the best chapters in the U.S.,” Fairchild said.  “This award represents two years of hard work, planning, community service and organization.  Winning this award speaks volumes for teachers because they can explain to their interviewers what the award means and how they achieved it.” 

Fairchild said she recommends future educators to join Kappa Delta Pi because it offers an array of valuable resources for educators, including international networks, scholarships and grants. 

“I think it’s important to be a part of Kappa Delta Pi,” Fairchild said.  “Education is a hard field; everyone’s looking at you because you’re teaching their children.  We offer many valuable resources for teachers who are looking to build their resources, networks and lesson plans.” 

More than 55,000 educators are Kappa Delta Pi members.  Fairchild said the ACE award recognizes future educators who carry out the society’s vision:  Recognizing and enhancing growth in scholars and leaders.
