Mitte Honors Program students to present honors theses in California

Texas State University-San Marcos Mitte Honors Program students will present their honors theses at the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research at the Dominican University of California in San Rafael, Calif. on April 12-14.

The NCUR is a highly competitive event that promotes undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in diverse fields of study.  The Mitte Honors Program students presenting are Jodie Flores of McAllen, Orquidea Morales of Mission, and Louie Dean Valencia of San Antonio.

Flores, anthropology major, will present her honors thesis is titled “Reconstructing the Ancient Greek Warp Weighted Loom.” Morales, Spanish and psychology major, will present her thesis “Language as a Tool to Discovering the Chicana Identity.” Valencia, Spanish and European studies major, will conduct two presentations at the conference. His honors thesis “How the Argot in the Films of Pedro Almodóvar Reflects the Social Changes of Spanish Youth Culture in the Post-Franco Era” and “Our Lady of Liberty: How Marianne Attempted to Replace Notre Dame.”
