SAN MARCOS —The Fashion Merchandising Association and the Ad Club at Texas
State University-San Marcos will play host to Cotton Incorporated’s Denim Drop Recycling Day 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 13. on the LBJ Student Center Mall.
The Denim Drop is part of Cotton Incorporated’s 2nd Annual Dirty Laundry Tour, which is making stops at 14 college campuses this fall. The Denim Drop is a call to action to donate old denim and give it “new life” by converting it into natural fiber insulation.
The Denim Drop program will assist in helping to rebuild a school in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The natural fiber insulation donation will be facilitated by Advance Baton Rouge, a non-profit organization established to promote systematic changes in public education that are designed to increase the academic achievement of all students. As an added incentive for students donating to the denim drop, the Buckle, a specialty retailer of branded casual apparel, footwear and accessories, will be providing coupons good for $5 off the purchase of a pair of jeans for every piece of denim donated.
The Texas State Fashion Merchandising Association is a professional student-run organization that promotes student relations with professionals in the fashion industry, as well as promoting knowledge in the field of fashion merchandising through special events and guest speakers. The Texas State AdClub is a professional student-run organization designed to help members network and gain contacts in the advertising industry, as well as giving members working experience via the student-run advertising agency.
