Zapata named Texas State Staff Employee of the Year

SAN MARCOS — Mary Ann Zapata, Administrative Assistant III in the Texas State University-San Marcos Office of Professional Development, has been named the Texas State Staff Employee of the year for 2005-06.
Zapata was chosen from the year’s 12 employees of the month, who represent more than 1,500 staff employees at Texas State. Zapata’s honor was announced Thursday, Aug. 10, by Texas State President Denise M. Trauth.
Zapata has been employed at Texas State since 1989, and began work in the Professional Development Office in 1995. There, she helps coordinate a variety of staff development workshops and training programs.

Trauth called Zapata “a perfect example of customer service in action.”
“She carefully manages every detail of the work her office does, taking personal pride in their accomplishments as a team. She has continuous rapport with fellow staff, faculty, students and members of the community with whom she comes in contact,” Trauth said of Zapata.
