Texas State’s Taylor receives Fulbright grant

SAN MARCOS—Ruth A. Taylor, a professor in the Department of Marketing at Texas State University-San Marcos, has been selected for a Fulbright Senior Specialist project in Lima, Peru.

Taylor will conduct a workshop-type conference series June 5-July 2 at the University of Lima, Department of Economics and Business Administration, where she will train undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as interested officials of trade-related organizations and small- and medium-sized international business mangers in Peru, to use U.S. Federally-collected and published resources in their pursuit of academic and business opportunities originating with the newly-signed U.S./Peruvian International Trade Agreement.
Taylor is one of over 400 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad in 2006 through the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program. The Fulbright Senior Specialists Program, created in 2000 to complement the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, provides short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) to prominent U.S. faculty and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at post secondary, academic institutions around the world.
The Fulbright program, America’s flagship international educational exchange activity, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Over its 59 years of existence, thousands of U.S. faculty and professionals have studied, taught or done research abroad, and thousands of their counterparts from other countries have engaged in similar activities in the United States.
Award recipients are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and because of demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
