Prince named vice president for university advancement at Texas State

SAN MARCOS—Rebecca A. Prince has been named vice president for university advancement at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Prince, 49, has worked at Texas State for 16 months as the university’s director of development. In addition to her duties as vice president for university advancement, she will also serve as executive director of the Texas State Development Foundation.
Prince’s appointment was announced Monday, April 24, by Texas State President Denise M. Trauth.
“During her time here at Texas State, Becky Prince has proven to be a thoroughly professional director of development and a very effective leader. I have no doubt that she will be able to lead the University Advancement Division to new levels of excellence,” said Trauth.
Before coming to Texas State, Prince spent nine years at the University of Texas at Austin, where she served as the assistant dean for development in the School of Nursing and also as the director of development in the College of Liberal Arts.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as vice president for university advancement,” said Prince. “For the past 16 months, Texas State has become a very special place for me. I believe that I am now in a position to help present Texas State to our external constituencies to show them how great this university has become and how great it can become.”
Prince has more than 27 years of experience working with non-profit organizations specializing in fundraising and volunteer and organizational management. Before her employment at the University of Texas, she worked with the American Cancer Society in a variety of positions, serving as the public information/communications director in Houston; the development director for South Texas; and the director of major and planned gifts for the Texas Division, Inc. She later served as the development director for the Texas Association of School Boards and the United Way Capital Area.
She attended Baylor University as an undergraduate and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.
In accordance with the rules and regulations of the Texas State University System Board of Regents, Prince’s appointment has been approved by System Chancellor Charles Matthews and will be submitted for final board approval at the May meeting of the Board of Regents.
The University Advancement Division at Texas State includes Alumni Relations, Community Relations, Development, Advancement Services, Media Relations and Publications, Parent Relations and Special Projects.
Prince succeeds T. Cay Rowe, who has served as interim vice president for university advancement since January 2005.
