Juvenil de Veracruz Ballet Folklorico troupe to perform at Texas State
SAN MARCOS—Grupo Folklorico Ocotochtli, the Ballet Folklorico group of Texas State University-San Marcos, will host a performance featuring Ballet Folklorico Juvenil de Veracruz from Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium.
Juvenil de Veracruz is a folklore dance company composed of performers who love the traditions of Mexico expressed through music, songs and dances characteristic of different ethnic groups. Ballet Folklorico is colorful expression of the authentic folklore of Mexico. The show will consist of music and a heady rush of tapping heels, dazzling costumes and insistent rhythms varying from six regions of Mexico.
Juvenil de Veracruz is well-known across Mexico and the United States. Its most recent U.S. appearance came in Sept., at Kansas City, Mo.
The show is sponsored by Texas State's own Grupo Folklorico Ocotochtli (Bobcat Folklorico Group). Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for general admission adults and $5 for students, faculty, staff and children.
