Bobcat Band, Strutters to perform at Saints halftime show
SAN MARCOS—When the New Orleans Saints play the first regular-season NFL game in San Antonio history Oct. 2 in the Alamodome, Texas State University-San Marcos will help welcome the displaced Saints to the Lone Star State.
The Texas State Bobcat Marching Band and world-renowned Strutters dance team will perform at halftime of the noon contest between the Saints and the Buffalo Bills, less than 24 hours after performing at the Oct. 1 collegiate football game between the Texas State Bobcats and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
Texas State's involvement evolved rapidly--the Saints' organization contacted Texas State Athletic Director Larry Teis on Tuesday, who then passed the invitation on to Director of Bands Ron Schueller.
"It's a great opportunity for us. Absolutely," Schueller said. "Especially for us, since it's in San Antonio. As far as our group is concerned, this exposure will be great. Obviously, for the city of San Antonio this is a fantastic event, and we're geeked to be a part of it."
