Danielle Alvarado named Outstanding Senior Woman at Texas State

SANMARCOS—Danielle Alvarado of San Antonio has been named the recipient of the 2005 Sallie Beretta Outstanding Senior Woman Award at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Alvarado received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in anthropology and a minor in biology at Texas State commencement ceremonies December 12, 2004, where she served as liberal arts commencement speaker.
Alvarado was named Greek Woman of the Year at Texas State in 2004 and served as president of the Latino Coalition in 2003-2004. She is a dean’s list student, earned the Liberal Arts Award of Excellence in 2003, recognition from the Gold Key International Honor Society in 2003 and was honored for completing more than 100 hours of community service in the spring of 2004.
The Beretta Award is named for Sallie Beretta, who served on the University’s Board of Regents from 1933 to 1951. The award has been given by the university since 1963 to an outstanding senior woman based on leadership, scholarship, character, potential and loyalty.
