Date of Release: 02/22/2005

SAN MARCOS—The Ebony Players will present The Exploration of Slavery Thursday, Feb. 24 in celebration of Black History Month at Texas State University-San Marcos.

The performance will be at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Teaching Theatre on campus. Admission is free for the event.

The Exploration of Slavery is a compelling examination of life as a slave in America. Music, pictures and dramatic readings showcase the interactive museum, which leads to the viewing of the extraordinary HBO documentary, Unchained Memories: Reading of Slave Narratives. Viewers are strongly cautioned that the production contains some graphic language and content.

Ebony Players is a multicultural organization that focuses on expelling the negative images and portrayals of African Americans, while uplifting a positive depiction of their struggles and progress via theatrical arts.
