Tony Dai to lecture on Chinese art, Falun Gong at Texas State

SAN MARCOS —Tony Dai, President of the Australia Chinese Cultural and Art Association, will present two seminars at Texas State University-San Marcos Thursday, Jan. 27.
Dai will present “Into the Profoundness and Inner Beauty of the Traditional Chinese Painting” from 9-9:45 a.m., followed by “Introduction to Falun Gong” from 9:45-10:30 a.m. Both seminars will be held in the Philosophy Dialogue Room, no. 132 in the Psychology Building.
Dai, a collector and renowned appraiser of Chinese art, is the author of the book Collection of Genuine Traditional Chinese Painting & Calligraphy by 19th & 20th Century Masters. He will offer insights as to how a master Chinese painting transcends the boundaries of the paper or silk frame to evoke thoughts and emotions. Through his presentation viewers can learn to appreciate the subtleties in shades, variations in colors, and contrasts in brush strokes.
During his second seminar, Dai will discuss the basic principles of Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, an ancient practice for mind and body originating in pre-historic China. The practice involves some slow, gentle movements and meditation. It is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and free of charge. The Dai family has owned and cherished a collection of Chinese paintings for more than four generations. Dai visits Austin in January as part of his limited world tour of Chinese National Treasures and has agreed to share his knowledge with students and faculty at Texas State.
