Prince named Texas State Director of Development

SAN MARCOS — Rebecca A. Prince has been named Director of Development at Texas State University-San Marcos.

A native Texan, Prince has 26 years’ worth of experience working with non-profit organizations specializing in fundraising and volunteer and organizational management.

“I am very excited about working with alumni, faculty and staff at Texas State to plan and implement a capital campaign,” said Prince. “Texas State is well-positioned for a capital campaign. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities involved with this initiative.”

She comes to Texas State from the University of Texas at Austin, where for the past nine years she served as the Assistant Dean for Development in the School of Nursing and also as the Director of Development in the College of Liberal Arts. Under Prince’s leadership, more than $60 million was raised in the College of Liberal Arts.


For 15 years Prince worked with the American Cancer Society (ACS) in a variety of positions, serving as the Public Information/Communications Director in Houston; the Development Director for South Texas; the Executive Director for South Texas; and the Director of Major and Planned Gifts for the Texas Division, Inc. After leaving the ACS, Prince served as the Development Director for Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) and the United Way Capital Area.

Prince attended Baylor University as an undergraduate and earned her degree from the University of Alabama. She recently received her CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) certification and is a member of two professional fundraising organizations, CASE and AFP.

Prince resides in South Austin with her husband, Ron, and their daughters, Erin and Molly. Erin is a student at Texas State majoring in political science, and Molly is a sophomore at Bowie High School.
