Billy Joe Shaver & Randy Rogers Band at Evans Auditorium

Sponsored by the Department of Fine Arts and Communications and the Center for Texas Music History, the concert will highlight the important history of Texas music and how its influence has snowballed over time. The performance is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the general public.

'70s Outlaw country movement, and his songs continue to be revered by each generation of musicians to come. A staunch individualist known for shooting from the hip, Shaver quickly became the songwriters' songwriter. He wrote 90 percent of Waylon Jennings' 1973 landmark Honky Tonk Heroes album, and he released three fine solo albums in the '70s including Old Five and Dimers Like Me (produced by Kris Kristofferson), When I Get My Wings and Gypsy Boy. He churned out a seemingly endless string of priceless songs that included "Ride Me Down Easy" and "Restless Wind" (Bobby Bare), "Old Five & Dimers Like Me" (Bob Dylan), and "(Just Because) You Ask Me To" (Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings).
