Specifically, Trauth said she will focus on four areas during the upcoming year:SAN MARCOS—Texas State University-San Marcos President Denise M. Trauth promised another year of progress for the university Tuesday, as she delivered her annual address at the fall Convocation.

  • The upcoming legislative session.
  • The campus master plan.
  • The revision of the university's Table of Programs.
  • Increasing faculty salaries and the size of the faculty.

In the legislative session, we will pursue tuition revenue bond authority for our highest priority projects: an undergraduate academic center, a performing arts center, a second building in Round Rock (at the Round Rock Higher Education Center) and deferred maintenance. We will also seek special funding for start-up support for programs in engineering and nursing, Trauth said.

Trauth said the campus master plan process would be completed by May 2005. She also said that the Table of Programs " the blueprint of degree program approved for each university by the Coordinating Board " would likely contain additional doctoral degree programs.

We will move ahead quickly with the development of our next two doctoral proposals in computer science and mathematics education and lay the groundwork for one in criminal justice. Our revised Table of Programs will be recommended to our Board of Regents in November and to the Coordinating Board in January, she said.

Trauth said she will continue to improve faculty salaries and said the university will hire an additional 20 faculty members this year and another 34 next year.
