Texas State announces faculty promotions and tenure

SAN MARCOS – Twenty-nine faculty members at Texas State University have been promoted and 23 have been granted tenure.

The promotions and tenure actions were approved Friday, May 7, by the Texas State University System Board of Regents, meeting in San Angelo on the campus of Angelo State University.

Promoted from associate professor to professor (with academic department in parentheses) were Eugene J. Bourgeois (history), Dana Garcia (biology), James Kimmel (geography), Robert McLean (biology), William Meek (art and design), Roselyn Morris (accounting), Charles Ney (theatre and dance), F. Kent Reilly (anthropology), Robert Rutledge (accounting), Ram Shanmugam (health services research) and Cecilia Temponi (management).

Promoted from assistant professor to associate professor were Stephen Awoniyi (health, physical education and recreation), Tina Cade (agriculture), Robert Davis (computer information systems and quantitative methods), Marilyn Goodwin (curriculum and instruction), Michelle Hamilton (health, physical education and recreation), Rebecca Jackson (English), Ana Juarez (anthropology), Kathryn Ledbetter (English) and John Lopez (music).

Also promoted from assistant professor to associate professor were Shana Pate-Moulton (curriculum and instruction), Janet Payne (finance and economics), Cynthia Plotts (educational administration and psychological services), Larry Price (educational administration and psychological services), Richard Radcliffe (curriculum and instruction), Jian Shen (mathematics), Selina Vasquez (mathematics), Ken Ward (political science) and William Wardrope (management).

Granted tenure were Stephen Awoniyi (health, physical education and recreation), Tina Cade (agriculture), Cyrus Cassells (English), Robert Davis (computer information systems and quantitative methods), Michael Forstner (biology), Marilyn Goodwin (curriculum and instruction), Michelle Hamilton (health, physical education and recreation), J. Craig Hanks (philosophy), Gary Hartman (history), Rebecca Jackson (English), Kathryn Ledbetter (English) and John Lopez (music).

Also granted tenure were Charles Ney (theatre and dance), Shana Pate-Moulton (curriculum and instruction), Janet Payne (finance and economics), Cynthia Plotts (educational administration and psychological services), Larry Price (educational administration and psychological services), Richard Radcliffe (curriculum and instruction), Robin Stein (music), Selina Vasquez (mathematics), Ken Ward (political science), William Wardrope (management) and Toni Watt (sociology).

Appointed with tenure effective July 1 as provost and vice president for academic affairs was Perry Moore.
