Sally Caldwell featured speaker at Wimberley Lecture Series
SAN MARCOS – Sally Caldwell, Ph.D., assistant professor of sociology at Texas State University-San Marcos, will deliver a free public lecture as part of the Wimberley Lecture Series, Tuesday, April 13.
The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at Chapel in the Hills in Wimberley.
Caldwell will discuss “Intimate Impostors: Love, Lies, Fakes and Frauds.” Drawing on research and interviews conducted for her book, Romantic Deception, the presentation delves into the phenomenon of intimate relationships that are deceptive, including fabricated identities. A question and answer session will follow.
“ It’s a very intriguing topic,” Caldwell said. “While the book based on interviews I conducted with women, there’s a lot to be said about lying on both sides of the equation. Men can be victims just as well.”
The series features Texas State faculty, held the second Tuesday of each month. Future speakers include Verna Henson, criminal justice faculty, on May 11.
