Occupational Education celebrates 30 years with open house
SAN MARCOS – In celebration of 30 years at Texas State University-San Marcos, the Occupational Education Program will host an open house Jan. 30 to show off its new offices.
The open house will be held 4-8 p.m. at the Pedernales Building on Pleasant Street, adjacent to the Music Building on the Texas State campus. Recently renovated, the Pedernales Building serves as the permanent home for the relocated program. Tours of the building will be offered, and interested faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to attend.
“ Our mission is to prepare non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students for careers through programs of high quality in academic, professional, and technical areas,” said Steve Springer, Director of Occupational Education. “Our programs are designed to accommodate working adults who want to further their education.”
As part of the College of Applied Arts, Occupational Education serves adult working students in the IH-35 corridor and beyond. Occupational Education offers distance-learning programs providing education at the bachelors and masters level. Courses are available on-campus as well as off-campus at locations in Austin and San Antonio, through the Internet and by correspondence.
