Ruth Welborn named College of Health Professions Dean

SAN MARCOS — Ruth B. Welborn, has been named dean of the Texas State University-San Marcos College of Health Professions.

Welborn has served in a variety of leadership positions at Texas State, including chair of the Department of Allied Health Sciences and Health Administration, associate dean of the College of Health Professions and acting dean of the College of Health Professions.

Welborn received her diploma in nursing from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., and her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She earned her masters from the University of Texas at San Antonio and received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. She holds a R.N. license in Texas.

 


Her research has focused on the health care delivery models for service and the learning styles of health profession students seeking higher education. She serves as the principal investigator for the Engaging Latino Communities for Education/Central South Texas ENLACE Partnership, a project funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Houston Endowment at $1.78 million.
