Nelly headlines 2003 RecJam at SWT
SAN MARCOS — Grammy Award-winning recording artist Nelly will headline the 2003 RecJam Friday, August 22. The third annual event, sponsored by the Department of Campus Recreation, features a festival in Sewell Park followed by the concert in Strahan Coliseum on the campus of Southwest Texas University.
The free festival will include booths, games, giveaways and other entertainment beginning at 4 p.m. The concert will take place in Strahan Coliseum later that evening.
Nelly won the 2003 Grammy for Best Male Rap Solo Performance with “Hot in Herre” and also Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with “Dilemma” featuring Kelly Rowland. Other hits by Nelly include “Ride Wit Me,” “Country Grammar” and “Pimp Juice.”
Previous RecJam concerts featured Robert Earl Keen and Charlie Robison in 2002 and a sold-out show by the Counting Crows in 2001.
