SWT takes first at American Advertising Federation competition
SAN MARCOS — The Southwest Texas State University American Advertising Federation (AAF) team is bound for nationals after taking first place at the District 10 AAF National Student Advertising Competition held in Little Rock, Ark., April 10.
The SWT AAF team advances to national competition June 5 in Los Angeles, where it will represent District 10, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and part of Louisiana. Seventeen universities competed in Little Rock, with mass communication and marketing students combining their efforts. After SWT, Oklahoma State University finished second, Southern Methodist University third and Texas Christian University fourth.
The competition was judged on a hypothetical ad campaign for the Toyota Matrix, including a 20 minute presentation and a 32-page campaign book outlining strategy, market research and promotional activities.
The SWT AAF team was advised by Jody Gibson, Department of Mass Communications, and Mary Ann Stutts, Department of Marketing.
