BOBCAT BUILD COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT KICKS OFF SATURDAY, MARCH 22 AS THE SWT VOLLEYBALL TEAM HELPS WITH SAN MARCOS NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN UP

Although the actual SWT Bobcat Build community service day is not until March 29, the SWT Volleyball team is kicking things off early as they assist with a low-income neighborhood clean-up for the City of San Marcos this Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.

The student athletes and coaches will assist residents of the Victory Gardens neighborhood in unloading their vehicles of trash, yard clippings and other items and loading them into dumpsters and chipping machines.

This is a small-scale preview of what you can expect on Saturday, March 29, when more than 400 SWT students will work at 25 projects all over San Marcos as part of the first university-wide community service day. The SWT volleyball team has a tournament that day, so they are kicking things off by assisting with the neighborhood clean-up Saturday, March 22.

Projects on March 29 include washing school buses, building a garden for a Head Start school, cleaning the Schulle greenspace, helping fitting saddles on horses for AWARE, school playground clean-ups, working at the city animal shelter, helping with a Habitat for Humanity House, working at two local children’s festivals, and more.

WHAT: Great footage/still photographs of SWT student athletes and San Marcos residents working together to clean up a low-income neighborhood.

Date: Saturday, March 22
Place: 400 block of Railroad Street in the Victory Gardens neighborhood
