The fast lane to alternative fuels: SWT co-sponsors conference addressing choices in alternative fuels
SAN MARCOS, Texas — Southwest Texas State University, in conjunction with businesses and government agencies from around Central and South Texas, have teamed up to host the 2002 Alternative Fuels Conference.
With San Antonio as one the last of the large cities to still meet the federal Clean Air Act standards for ozone (and on the verge of losing its status), Central and South Texans are urged to make changes, avoid putting gas in their vehicle in the middle of the day and car pooling are a couple. But aside from changing habits of individuals, transportation officials will have an opportunity to discuss what they can do to vehicles to keep our air healthier and the ozone in tact.
Media are invited to view the next wave of hybrid vehicles and see and hear about the technology advances in transportation, July 11, 2002, between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos. The Center is located on Hwy. 21. Attendees are asked to please park at the San Marcos Athletic Center on Hwy. 21, and a CARTS shuttle will bring you to the event. For more information or directions, please call (210) 225-5937.
Sponsors and partners include HEB, Reliant Energy, Emissions Technology of Texas, CARTS (Capital Area Rural Transportation System), Texas Dept. of Transportation, Drive Clean Across Texas, Applied LNG Technologies, Good Company, Texas State Energy Conservation Office, and Gary Job Corps.
