San Marcos Hall construction begins
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Southwest Texas State University has begun construction of the San Marcos Hall residence complex. Construction of the complex will create a 419-bed residence hall with a community center and a 500-car parking garage.
The complex will be located just north of Bexar Hall, south of the Child Development Center and west of Academy Street on the SWT campus, and the garage will be located south of Bexar Hall. Construction began Monday, Nov. 19, and is slated for completion by Aug. 1, 2002.
Construction will disable electrical service to the Glade Theater for a period of time. There will be work to create a detention pond between Academy and North Street near the North Street and Vista intersection.
Access to and outlets from the Child Development Center and the Army ROTC building will be through South Llano Street. This will result in elimination of the parking spaces on South Llano Street in front of Bexar Hall.
Garage construction will also require parking on Academy Street to be closed during construction. The contractor is working with the city of San Marcos to temporarily close parking spaces on Academy.
Construction work hours will generally be from sunrise to sunset. For additional information, contact Brian Montgomery at 245-2929, Don Compton at 245-9189, Ed Reznicek at 245-2202 or Pat Fogarty at 245 –2818.
