SAN MARCOS, TEXAS Julie Eckert, Peer Education Coordinator with SWT’s Alcohol and Drug Resource Center, has been chosen to serve as a center associate for the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention.

Eckert will attend a training for center associates Aug. 15 - Aug. 19 and will then begin to work as a center associate.

The U.S. Department of Education first established the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention in 1993 to assist campuses and their surrounding communities in comprehensive approaches to alcohol, other drug and violence prevention. The center is one of the primary resources for assisting institutions of higher education in developing and carrying out alcohol and other drug prevention programs on their campuses.
