SWT students advance to AAF’s national student competition
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Students involved in advertising from Southwest Texas State University are among 16 universities participating in the nation’s premier student advertising competition, the 2001 American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition, to be held June 10 during the AAF American Advertising Conference.
From 129 entries, SWT became one of two wild card teams to participate in this year’s competition. The teams will present their global branding campaigns for DaimlerChrysler on June 10 in Cleveland.
This marks the third year in a row that SWT has advanced to nationals. In 11 years, SWT has placed among the top six, with a first place win in 1990.
For the first time in the competition’s 26-year history, the sponsor has proposed a global corporate branding challenge.
The AAF education services division will offer cash prizes for the first time to the top four teams. First place will receive $3,500; second - $2,500; third - $2,000 and fourth - $1,000. All remaining 12 teams will receive $500 each. The judging panel is comprised of leading corporate executives.
