Two Mitte Scholars honored at SWT
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Two Southwest Texas State University students received the Mitte Scholarship Program’s Circle of Excellence Award Thursday, May 10, as recognition for their outstanding efforts to the local community while maintaining excellent grades.
Tammy Silakowski, a psychology major, is this year’s recipient of the Undergraduate Circle of Excellence Award. Silakowski’s outstanding academic performance and her experience as an intern at the National Science Foundation for two summers helped her stand out among her peers. As a result of her hard work and dedication, Silakowski recently won a two-year internship at the National Institutes of Health in the Cognitive Neuroscience Branch.
Staci Creager, enrolled in SWT’s rigorous physical therapy program, is this year’s recipient of the Graduate Circle of Excellence Award. Creager has exhibited outstanding dedication to her studies and has been involved in various programs and activities benefiting society. Creager has volunteered for the Austin Adopt-a-Child program and Habitat for Humanity while maintaining a perfect grade-point average.
The Mitte Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Austin, donates a substantial scholarship fund for 125 students of all majors at SWT. The Mitte Scholarship Fund offers financial assistance to students who demonstrate outstanding dedication to their studies while learning the personal merits of helping others.
