2001 Writers, teachers needed for Central Texas Writing Project

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Southwest Texas State University is gearing up for its Summer 2001 Central Texas Writing Project (CTWP), and writers are being encouraged to apply for the program by March 31.

As one of 170 sites of the National Writing Project in 46 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, the Central Texas Writing Project invites outstanding teachers in the region, grades k-college, to demonstrate their classroom practices and prepare to teach inservice workshops during the school year by participating in this five-week program June 4 through July 6, 2001.

Tuition, fees and books are provided by CTWP and housing is in SWT dormitory rooms.

Teachers looking for creative, innovative ideas for teaching writing in the classroom and for an opportunity to develop their own skills are invited to attend. Teachers lead the program and participants receive six hours of graduate credit from SWT. As a fellow of the CTWP, participants will have the opportunity to be a Teacher Consultant and will possibly be hired to do inservice workshops for schools in the Central Texas area.
