SWT’s de la Teja named fellow of Texas State Historical Commission
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Jesus Francisco de la Teja, associate professor of history at Southwest Texas State University, was designated a fellow of the Texas State Historical Commission (TSHA) during the organization’s 105th annual meeting in early March in Houston.
De la Teja, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, has been a member of the SWT family since 1991. Prior to his position with SWT, he served as director of the Archives and Records Division of the Texas General Land Office. In addition to his teaching, he serves as interim director of the SWT graduate program in public history, book review editor for the Southwestern Historical Quarterly and managing editor of Catholic Southwest: A Journal of History and Culture.
According to the TSHA, The fellow title, granted by the Executive Council of TSHA, is bestowed upon those “who have demonstrated through published works a special aptitude for historical investigation relating to the state of Texas.”
De la Teja’s many publications include A Revolution Remembered: The Memoirs and Selected Correspondence of Juan N. Seguin and San Antonio de Bexar: A Community on New Spain’s Northern Frontier.
