SWT hosts religion lecture in American Constitutionalism series

.SPEAKER - Graham Walker, associate professor of politics at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C, to host SWT lecture at 7 p.m. on March 22 in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS —“Religious Freedom vs. Religious Neutrality” is the topic of the next lecture in the Southwest Texas State University Department of Political Science’s American Constitutionalism Lecture Series.

Graham Walker, associate professor of politics at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., will begin the lecture at 7 p.m. on March 22 in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom. Admission is free and open to the public.

Walker, a former congressional staff member for both a U.S. senator and a representative, is also a visiting scholar in religion and philosophy at the American Enterprise Institute. His work has appeared in Nomos, Polity, The Review of Politics, the Cardozo Journal of International and Comparative Law, The Wesleyan Advocate and the Los Angeles Times. He is the author of two books, Moral Foundations of Constitutional Thought and The Ethics of F.A. Hayak.

The SWT Department of Political Science, the University Lectures Committee, the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute are sponsoring the 2000-2001 lecture series. Since its inception in 1992, the lecture series has sponsored talks by more than 30

prominent scholars in constitutional law and political theory, including Robert P. George (Princeton University), Hadley Arkes (Amherst College), Jean Bethke Elshtain (University of Chicago) and Jack Rakove (Stanford University).
