SWT professors win NCTE award
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Liz Stephens and Thom Prentice, assistant professors of curriculum and instruction at Southwest Texas State University, received first place honors from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) for their editing of English in Texas, a scholarly journal published by the Texas Council of Teachers of English.
NCTE, which gave the award during its national convention Nov. 19 in Milwaukee, has been honoring journals published by its affiliates for the past five years. The journals, judged on everything from content and design to organization and quality of paper printed on, provide members with scholarly articles on issues and topics related to the teaching of the English language arts.
