SWT scientists named editors of international chemical publication
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Stan Israel, dean of the Southwest Texas State University College of Science, and Patrick Cassidy, associate vice president for academic affairs at SWT, were recently named co-editors of Polymer Preprints, a semi-annual publication of the Polymer Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society. Diane Grimm, SWT grant coordinator, was named editorial coordinator (a position supported by SWT).
Polymer Preprints is a semi-annual, 1,000 page publication containing some 400 international papers. It is a pre-print of all papers presented at the Polymer Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Societys semi-annual conference and has become one of the most significant publications for polymer chemists worldwide.
Cassidy explained that an initial change under the new editorship is format of the publication. Rather than sending paper versions, the publication will now be sent on CD with paper versions sent only upon request. Further, the publication will appear on the Polymer Chemistry Division website.
With these new appointments, SWT has expanded its reputation in the scientific arena. Cassidy said he and the other editors are looking forward to assisting SWT in its efforts to increase the quality and prestige of the university.
Both the American Chemical Society and SWT fund the publication.
