SWT’s Angell receives national honor
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Susan Angell, director of Southwest Texas State University’s Strutters, recently received national recognition for her work with the internationally known dance team.
Angell, a former Strutter captain and 1980 SWT graduate, was named one of the “Top 10 Directors of America” at the national convention of Dance and Drill Team Directors of America. Angell was the only collegiate director to receive the honor this year.
The Strutters have performed at SWT for more than 40 years and have represented SWT in 16 countries on four continents.They were the first U.S. dance team to perform in the People's Republic of China. The team has also made numerous nationally televised appearances, including two presidential inaugural parades.
The Dance and Drill Team Directors of America, an organization with nationwide membership, votes yearly on members who have been nominated for their outstanding service and the accomplishments of their dance/drill teams.
